Summer Day Camp assures
enjoyment of Horse Lovers of all Riding Abilities!
DAY 1: HORSES-A FUN START!
.
A) The Horse- an amazing animal! Approach and forming a union
B) Overview of the equine diet: feed, hay, water, etc.
C) Understanding horse behavior and body language
D) Daily life and care, safety, and good "horse-sense"
E) Handling your horse- lead, lunge, jog
F) Grooming introduction: reviewing tools & techniques
DAY 2: GROOMING, TACK, SAFETY, & RIDING

A) Ride preparation: hands-on grooming and hoof care
B) Approach & handling horses: safety discussion & demonstration
C) Overview of tack & equipment: saddle, bridle, padding
D) Proper saddling techniques and adjustments to tack.
E) Mounting, dismounting, and review of safety issues
F) Riding techniques: hand, leg, and voice commands
G) Let's Go Riding!
DAY 3: LET'S "SHOW-OFF" YOUR HORSE!

A) Show preparation and the Halter Class show
B) Grooming, braiding, coat care, mane and tail styling
C) Tack preparation and cleaning
D) Leg wrapping, haltering, and hoof trimming demonstration
E) Pictures with your horse! Crafts! Games! Lots of fun stuff!
F) Discussion of breeds, confirmation, and markings
DAYS 4 & 5: LETS RIDE, RIDE, & THEN RIDE SOME MORE!

A) Brushing, grooming, and ride preparation
B) Saddling, bridling, and safety check
C) Let's "Show" Off! (Friday full-day program only)
D) Reviewing mounting and reining commands
E) Lets Go Trail Riding!
F) Cool/walk down and unsaddle

Horsemanship Summer Day Camp is held Monday
through Friday and is open to Horse Lovers ages 9 to 16. The program being both
educational and fun attracts Horse Lovers of all riding abilities. We recommend
participants with limited riding experience and require those with no experience take some
Riding Lessons prior to starting the Summer Day Program.
Participants receive their own grooming kit (theirs to keep) and a Gift Certificate for
Free Riding time.
Registration Fees- Summer Day Camp 2005: Save $$ and pay by cash/check! NOTE: a 3.5%
Half Day Session (Mon-Fri): $220.00
